James Caldwell founded Big Sky Injury Law after spending the first five years of his career on the other side of the table — defending insurance companies. He knows exactly how insurers evaluate injury claims, which tactics they use to minimize payouts, and how to counter those tactics at every step of the process.
In 20 years of practice, James has recovered over $30 million for Montana injury victims in cases ranging from rural highway accidents to complex multi-party commercial vehicle crashes. He has tried over 40 personal injury cases to verdict, and maintains a reputation among Montana defense attorneys as a lawyer who prepares every case for trial — even when settlement is the likely outcome.
James was born and raised in Missoula. He attended the University of Montana for both his undergraduate and law degrees, and has spent his entire career serving the communities where he grew up. He is a member of the Montana Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Missoula County Bar Association.

Before becoming an attorney, Sarah worked for four years as a paramedic in Billings. That background gives her something most lawyers never have: a first-hand, clinical understanding of traumatic injury — how it happens, how it's treated, what recovery looks like, and what long-term consequences can mean for a family. Insurance companies quickly learn she cannot be confused with medical jargon.
Sarah specializes in semi-truck and commercial vehicle accidents, wrongful death cases, and catastrophic injury claims involving brain and spinal trauma. She is board-certified in civil trial advocacy and has recovered over $15 million for her clients. She is known for her meticulous case preparation and her willingness to hold corporations and their insurers fully accountable.
Sarah is a founding board member of the Montana Women Trial Lawyers Network and serves on the Mock Trial Advisory Committee for the University of Montana School of Law.

Tyler grew up in Missoula and never left — which is exactly why he chose to practice personal injury law here. A former University of Montana Grizzly football player who sustained a serious knee injury in his junior season, he knows firsthand what it means to face a long recovery while wondering about your financial future. That experience drives everything he does.
Tyler focuses on auto accident cases and insurance disputes, particularly uninsured and underinsured motorist claims. He has a reputation among his clients for direct communication, fast response times, and never leaving them guessing about the status of their case. He handles each client file himself — no passing off to paralegals.
Tyler serves on the Young Lawyers Section of the Montana State Bar and volunteers at the Missoula Office of Public Defender's legal aid clinics.
